Antrim Road, henleaze
This project was a real treat to work on. My clients had really high aspirations for their home which they wanted to open up as well as extend to the side and rear. The new space being created, working together with the reconfigured existing spaces really did add up to a whole which was greater than the sum of its parts.
The stylish sliding doors snake around the exterior, really drawing the garden into the space. These work together with the bespoke roof window over the Kitchen to flood the open-plan space with natural light. The raised decking to the rear was extended across the house meaning that with the large doors open during the warmer months a very real integration of inside and outside is enabled – perfect for BBQs!
Just as important as the ‘wow-factor’ attributed to strong aesthetic design is a good dose of healthy pragmatism. Using some of the space formerly occupied by a garage, we placed a Utility Room and externally accessed Store on the street side of the extension. These work together to keep the ‘front-of-house’ space clean and uncluttered, not just when they’re being photographed!
